ILOILO – The municipal hall of San Enrique town was locked down after two employees tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Mayor Rosario Mediatrix Fernandez, the lockdown is effective today, March 10, until Friday, March 12.
“Aside from disinfection, mahimo kita sang contact tracing kay ang duha ka mga empleyado damo exposure sa iban nga mga municipal offices,” Fernandez told Panay News.
The infected employees were from the Civil Registrar’s Office and Office of the Mayor.
Fernandez said they would determine those who had close contact with these personnel and “subject them to swabbing and 14-day strict home quarantine.”
The municipal hall will resume operations on Monday, March 15, the mayor said.
TOWN COPS, TOO
Fernandez disclosed that 10 police personnel assigned in the municipal police station tested positive for COVID-19. These included seven uniformed personnel, one non-uniformed personnel and two job orders.
“They have had close contact with some of our municipal hall employees,” she said.
Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), said the 10 personnel were part of the 27 close contacts of the San Enrique deputy police chief who initially tested positive for the virus.
On Monday, the IPPO sent one team to temporarily take over the vacated posts, Gorero said.
The 10 police personnel and two municipal hall employees were currently at the town’s quarantine facility.
As of this writing, San Enrique had 97 coronavirus cases – 35 were active, 59 recovered and three deaths./PN
