ILOILO City – San Enrique, Iloilo’s No. 1 most wanted person was arrested around 7 a.m. on Monday, July 10, in Barangay Malusgod, Pototan, Iloilo after 29 years of hiding.
The 46-year-old fish vendor Juanario Papilota of Barangay Naslo, Pototan was taken to the San Enrique Municipal Police Station, according to Police Captain Airel Dawn Parcon.
The suspect was served with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Severino Aguilar of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 35 for robbery with rape.
Parcon said the suspect was accused of raping a 65-year-old woman after he ransacked the victim’s house on Jan. 2, 1994.
“Sang natabu ang krimen 17 years old pa lang ang suspect. Ginsulod niya balay sang tigulang kag gin-ransack, tapos gin-rape pa niya. Nanago siya pero sang sini lang nakabaton kami balita nga ara sa ila balay,” the San Enrique police chief added.
The court recommended no bail bond for the suspect’s temporary liberty./PN
