San Jose antidrug drive gets community support

SAN JOSE, Antique – Various sectors in the community supported an event campaigning against illegal drug use.

The San Jose municipal police station headed by Superintendent Mark Anthony Darroca organized the “Dalagan Kontra Droga” on Saturday.

The 1.8-kilometer run began at 5 a.m. from the municipal police station to the Evelio B. Javier Freedom Park.

A zumba dance exercise was also a part of the event.

Darroca said his personnel will continue to sustain the campaign against illegal drugs in sitios in the municipality.

He added that they want to heighten the public’s awareness about the ill effects of drugs.

The chief of police also encouraged the community to report “abusive policemen.”

As of May, about 404 individuals have already surrendered to the police since the “war on drugs” campaign started in the town. (With PIA/PN)
