ILOILO City – A couple from San Jose town in Antique province tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The 57-year-old female patient was admitted at a hospital in this city while her husband was under home quarantine, according to Mayor Elmer Untaran of San Jose.
“This is to inform everybody that our municipality recorded its 5th and 6th positive cases for COVID-19,” read part of Untaran’s announcement.
She said the woman had no history of travel abroad but frequently travelled to Iloilo City, where she may have possibly contracted the infectious disease.
The town mayor also suspected that the woman has infected his husband.
With this development, Untaran urged his constituents not to be complacent and always observe public health standards like social distancing, frequent hand washing, wearing of facemask and face shield.
She further appealed: “Stay at home or avoid non-essential travel outside your residences to prevent COVID-19 transmission.”/PN
