SAN JOSE, Antique – Authorities in this capital town urged residents to stop spreading malicious reports relating to the recent second confirmed case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here as it causes public alarm.

Mayor Elmer Untaran said the Department of Health is the one authorized to announce updates on COVID-19 cases based on the swab test results.

“We are not in the position to announce prior or until there is official an statement from where they had swab test,” he stressed.

This capital town’s second confirmed case is a 45 year-old male who got stranded in Taguig City, Metro Manila. He exhibited mild symptoms after arriving here on July 28, 2020.

Untaran shared the patient was immediately taken to an isolation facility in this capital town.

The LSI’s specimen was collected last July 31 and the result came out on Aug. 4.

The mayor reiterated to the public to continuously observe strict health protocols and avoid non-essential travels to avert the transmission of COVID-19. (With a report from PIA/PN)
