SAN JOSE, Antique – Locals are satisfied with the delivery of basic services from the local government of San Jose, a survey conducted by the University of Antique showed.

San Jose got an overall high satisfaction rating in the Citizen Satisfaction Survey on Delivery of Basic Services using the Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The CSIS is a set of data tools designed to collect and generate relevant citizens’ feedback on local governments’ service delivery performance and the citizens’ general satisfaction.

Implemented through the DILG’s Bureau of Local Government Supervision, the CSIS started in this capital town, said Information Officer Judy Mae Magdato.

But the survey also revealed that San Jose got a high percentage for a “need for action” on the delivery of services. People’s awareness on the services provided by the local government is also low.

The survey covered the following service areas: health, support to education, social services welfare, governance and response, public works and infrastructure, environmental management, and economic and investment promotion.

According to DILG Provincial Director Victorio Pagapulan, the survey seeks to identify gaps in the delivery of basic services that can be the basis for policy interventions to enhance local service delivery.

In response to the survey results, a planning workshop on the formulation of the Citizen-driven Priority Action Plan (CPAP) was held.

The CPAP will contain local government interventions to improve the delivery of basic services using the CSIS results and an agreement among stakeholders on their role in undertaking the interventions.

Mayor Elmer Untaran, Vice Mayor Felix Saldajeno, Sangguniang Bayan members, department heads, national government agencies, civil society organizations, academe partners, and other stakeholders attended.

The DILG identified the University of Antique as the local resource institute that shall conduct the survey. (PIA/PN)
