ANTIQUE – A 34-year-old man was the latest to be arrested in Barangay Funda Dalipe, San Jose de Buenavista town in the ongoing crackdown on loose firearms in this province.
Alias “Lando”, a resident of the said place, was caught on Saturday, March 22, through the strength of a search warrant issued by the court in San Jose.
San Jose police said recovered from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver and four live cartridges.
The suspect was now detained at the San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS), facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of Police Regional Office 6, commended the officers of the San Jose MPS for their swift operation, emphasizing the importance of removing unregistered firearms from communities.
“This is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure public safety. We encourage those in possession of unlicensed firearms to surrender them to the nearest police station,” Wanky said./PN
