San Jose town soon to require drug test in biz establishments

SAN JOSE, Antique – The conduct of drug testing among employees in business establishments here with at least 10 workers will soon be mandatory, town Mayor Elmer Untaran said.

Untaran added the Sangguniang Bayan considered crafting an ordinance highlighting drug test as one of the requirements in the renewal and application of a Mayor’s permit among commercial institutions.

“No drug testing, no issuance of Mayor’s permit,” Untaran said.

He added the move forms part of declaring an establishment as a drug-free workplace, citing the measure protects business owners, too.

Untaran said there were no drug apprehensions and buy-bust operations in the province’s capital town from Dec. 2019 to January this year.

“If you have observed, the town of San Jose is peaceful especially during night time,” he added.(With a report from PIA/PN)
