SAN JOSE, Antique – Duck, cover, hold.

These are some of the life-protection skills employees of establishments at the Business Park learned during the second-quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill on Thursday.

They also learned how to properly carry out an emergency evacuation.

The drill aims to test the preparedness of Business Park occupants, according to Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Alex Crespo.

It also highlighted the capabilities of responders based on how they reacted and aimed to find out how they could still improve in performing their role in crisis management, Crespo said.

One of the scenarios portrayed during the drill was a magnitude 7.5 quake that causes damage to establishments and hurting people.

Other scenarios included explosion and fire incidents, rescue and evacuation, proper handling of patients, and traffic management, among others.

Joining the drill were the Provincial and San Jose Municipal disaster risk reduction and management offices, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and the Philippine Red Cross.

Members of the Antique Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council also participated. (Vicente W. Villavert, PIA/PN)
