San Jose’s Municipal Health Office closed; 2 staff contract COVID-19

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Municipal Health Office (MHO) here has been temporarily closed. Two of its staff tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Elmer Untaran ordered the MHO closed on Sunday, Jan. 9. This would be for a week.

The two staff were immediately quarantined, and were their close contacts which were also mostly their MHO colleagues.

Confirmatory tests would be conducted.

MHO services were suspended, too, including COVID-19 vaccination at Robinsons Place, Business Park, and the barangays.

Medical and delivery/birthing services will be referred to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital.

However, services in the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) for COVID-19 cases will continue.

MHO services would resume once all its staff complete their quarantine and/or isolation.

From zero case by the end of December 2021, COVID-19 infections in San Jose suddenly soared to 52 by Jan. 10.

The 52 cases were in the following barangays: Atabay (17), Barangay 1 (one), Barangay 2 (one), Barangay 3 (four), Barangay 4 (seven), Barangay 5 (one), Barangay 8 (one), Badiang (two), Funda Dalipe (three), Madrangca (one), Magcalon (one), Malaiba (one), Maybato North (two), Mojon (two), San Angel (one), San Fernando (one), San Pedro (two), and Supa (two).

“Posible nga nabuol ang aton kagaw sa mga pagtipon-tipon kang nagligad nga holiday season,” said Untaran.

He reminded residents to continue observing the health safety protocols – physical distancing, proper hand washing / disinfection, wearing of facemasks.

Avoid non-essential travel, said Untaran.

Those experiencing what could be COVID-19 symptoms must coordinate with their Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams for appropriate action, he added./PN
