BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the police said the celebration of St. John the Baptist feast was “generally peaceful.”

Executive Assistant Jomarie Vargas, cluster head of the CDRRMO, said there were no crime-related incidents during the celebration due to the cooperation of the public.

Several rescue groups in the city in cooperation with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Philippine Coast Guard were tapped for security and rescue measures especially for people who swam at beaches, rivers, and pools.

Superintendent Noel Polines, spokesperson of BCPO, also said there were no untoward incidents on Sunday, only that of reported alarm and scandal in Barangay Punta Taytay here.

The presence of policemen at beaches contributed to make the occasion peaceful, he said./PN
