MANILA – Rejuvenated San Miguel Beermen will gun for a series tie against TNT KaTropa in Game 2 of the 2019 Honda PBA Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven finals tonight at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After getting two days to recover from their consecutive games last week, Beermen head coach Leo Austria said his squad is well adjusted ahead of their 7 p.m. match with the KaTropa.

“We’re not yet there because we’re not able to recover from the exhaustion we got from the semifinals (against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters). We’re still trying to regroup,” said Austria.

He added: “As usual ‘yung kanilang three-point shots, we have to contain that and limit their outside shooting. Also, Terrence Jones. He is the other dominant factor.”

Beermen veteran Arwind Santos, for his part, vowed to exert more effort in stopping Jones, who tallied 42 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in KaTropa’s 109-96 Game 1 win.

“Sa Game 1 maganda ang laro ni Jones, maganda pa laro ng locals,” Santos said. “Kungma-off namin import, okay lang, maganda laro ng local. Kungma-off namin local, dapat ‘yung import, hindi na. Mamimili kami sa side na ‘yun.”

According to Austria, “Ayaw natin napapahiya minsan. Siyempre championship, ayaw namin matalo basta basta. Kapag nagkaroon uli ng chance na kung sino matapat sa kanya, gagawin namin lahat para ma-stop siya.”/PN
