MANILA – The San Miguel Beermen is set to lift the indefinite suspension it slapped on veteran forward Arwind Santos ahead of their preparation for the PBA Philippine Cup title defense later this month.
In a report by Spin.ph, the former Far Eastern University Tamaraws forward is expected to join the Beermen’s practice when they start preparing for their sixth-straight All-Filipino Conference title on Jan. 13.
Santos, along with Ilonggo guard Ronald Tubid, Kelly Nabong and import Dezmine Wells, were suspended by the Beermen management for fighting during a practice session late last year.
The Beermen management slapped the hefty punishment even if it caused their Grand Slam bid. They were forced to play the latter part of the PBA Governors’ Cup undermanned.
The SMB was eventually eliminated by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings in the quarterfinals round, ending its bid to sweep the three PBA championships in Season 2019-2020.
While Santos already has a return date for the Beermen, Tubid and Nabong are still doubtful of returning to the team with both of their contracts already expired.
Santos, on the other hand, has already signed a two-year contract extension with the Beermen even before the trouble in the practice that resulted to his suspension./PN
