ANTIQUE – More locals and tourists alike are expected to spend Holy Week break in San Remigio town, the “Summer Capital of Antique”.
San Remigio, also known as the “Little Baguio of Antique”, is recognized for its cool climate, lush greenery, and scenic mountain views.
According to the San Remigio Municipal Police Station (MPS), they expect around 2,000 individuals to visit the town’s different tourist destinations like the Highland Strawberry Garden and Eden Park in Barangay Aningalan, Danao Lake, Pula Falls, Batuan falls, and mountain resorts.
“More or less 2,000 individuals ang atin pong ini-expect na pupunta at mag-ii-spend po ng Holy Week sa ating destination spots dito sa San Remigio” said Police Captain Ramil C. Hogoc, chief of San Remigio MPS.
Hogoc said they are coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the people who will spend their Holy Week vacation in the town, particularly in Aningalan.
“Gina-ensure po natin na safe and naka-coordinate na tayo sa ibang mga otoridad gaya ng mga tanod dito. At na-make sure na din po na enough ang magiging way po ng communication natin dahil may mga lugar po dito na walang [mobile phone] signal,” the police chief said.
He added: “Pagdating po sa safety ng ating mga tao, atin din pong sinisiguro na maayos at mapayapa dito. Ang tanging kailangan na lang nilang gawin ay mag-enjoy at panatilihin ang pansariling kaligtasan.”
San Remigio police further advised locals and tourists to dispose trash properly, stay hydrated, wear appropriate clothing, and be aware of potential dangers like heatstroke./PN
