SAN JOSE, Antique – Residents of Barangay Cabunga-an in the municipality of San Remigio in this province availed themselves of various services from their local government unit (LGU).
“We went to Cabunga-an to give food packs to 124 households, to conduct immunization among the children and to consult with the barangay officials and residents,” Mayor Margarito Mission Jr. said.
The LGU brought its services to Cabunga-an on July 23.
According to Mission, the only way to reach the village is by walking for about three hours starting from San Rafael, the nearest barangay which is four kilometers away from the town proper.
During the public consultation, the barangay folks brought up the need of having a public cemetery as they do not have one.
The residents bury their dead in the public cemetery in Barangay Osorio – about five kilometers away from Cabunga-an and could also only be reached by foot.
“I told them to look for a lot which the LGU could buy,” Mission said.
Mission said that he made it a point he would bring the LGU services to all the 45 barangays of the third class municipality.
“I only have four more barangays to visit,” he added. These are the mountainous villages of General Fullon, Banbanan, Bulan-bulan, and Insubuan. The only way to reach them is by foot, too. (With a report from PNA/PN)
