ANTIQUE – The San Remigio municipal government’s “Oplan Sarado” issued closure orders to 46 commercial establishments without business permits and with unpaid taxes.
“Ang LGU [local government unit] San Remigio seryoso sa pagpasarado kang mga negosyo nga wara nagasunod sa regulasyon kag wara nakapasa kang mga required nga mga dokumento para legal nga maka-negosyo sa aton banwa,” read part of the municipal government’s statement.
Mayor Margarito “Mar” Mission Jr. led the two-day operation on Wednesday, July 5.
“The establishment owners and operators had already been given three notices reminding them of their delinquency before the closure,” Mission said.
Three resorts in Barangay Aningalan, two gasoline stations, one billiard pool, six furniture maker shops, five canteens, three ready-to-wear merchandise shops, and 26 sari-sari stores were served with closure orders.
The establishments were identified during the tax mapping and inspection conducted in the first quarter of the year.
Acting Municipal Treasurer Laumar Daime Bautista said delinquent business owners and operators were given ample time from April until July 4 to secure their documents, but they failed to comply.
“Once these business owners and operators could comply, they would already be allowed to open by our mayor,” Bautista said, adding some have failed to settle their dues for the past 10 years.
“Oplan Sarado” aims to protect the public, particularly legitimate businesses that regularly comply with the regulations set by the Local Revenue Code.
Meanwhile, inspections and tax mapping of the remaining business establishments in other barangays in San Remigio are set for the following months.
“Gane, sa mga establisyimento nga wara pa naka gawad kang business permit, ginapapangabay nga magbisita ron dayun sa aton Municipal Treasurer’s Office para mag proseso agod malikawan ang pagpasarado,” the San Remigio LGU’s statement further read. (With reports from San Remigio Official and PNA)/PN
