ILOILO City – San Remigio municipality in Antique Province has been recognized as one of the top three most improved local government units (LGUs) among 3rd and 4th class municipalities in the country.
This recognition was awarded during the Philippine Creative Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Congress of the Department of Trade and Industry at the Manila Hotel on Thursday, Sept. 28.
Mayor Mar Mission Jr. highlighted that San Remigio has significantly improved its overall competitiveness score, which encompasses pillars such as economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
In light of this achievement, Mission expressed gratitude to all LGU officials, with Vice Mayor Eduardson G. Petinglay and municipal officials and LGU employees receiving special mention.
The ceremony was attended by Merfe C. Mission and Lyn Listano on behalf of the mayor.
San Remigio, along with Iloilo City, were the sole award recipients in Region 6.
The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index Awards Program is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council, in collaboration with the Regional Competitiveness Committees and with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
Cities and municipalities are ranked based on their overall competitiveness score, which is derived from multiple sub-indicators.

* Top 2 – Butig, Lanao del Sur
* Top 3 – Alcoy, Cebu
For 3rd and 4th Class Municipalities:

* Top 2 – Infanta, Pangasinan
* Top 3 – San Remigio, Antique
For 1st to 2nd Class Municipalities:
* Top 1 – Jolo, Sulu
* Top 2 – New Corella, Davao del Norte
* Top 3 – Sumisip, Basilan
For Component Cities:
* Top 1 – Calaca City, Batangas
* Top 2 – Catbalogan City, Western Samar
* Top 3 – Tabaco City, Albay
