ILOILO City – University of San Agustin captured the 2019 Iloilo Schools Sports Association Meet tertiary basketball title via a 67-65 escape over Western Institute of Technology at the WIT Gym.
Jorine Cercado spearheaded the attack for the SanAg with 18 points, while Tyke Bano and McDAngelo Vargas contributed 13 and 11 markers, respectively.
Alex Mahilum also made his presence felt with nine points, while Rexmar Matulac, Simon Ong and Luin Sanchez contributed seven, five and four markers, respectively.
For the WIT, Dionel Fatla-onag tallied 21 points, while Marvin Cuerbo and Alendal Tumilba submitted 13 and 10 markers, respectively.
Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix, meanwhile, repeated as champions in the ISSA Meet elementary division with a 51-31 victory over University of San Agustin in the finals./PN
