Santa Barbara RHU on lockdown

ILOILO – The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Santa Barbara town has been placed under lockdown after a healthcare personnel tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ang isa namon ka midwife nag-positive,” Mayor Rema Somo confirmed to Panay News.

This health personnel underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test on Monday after exhibiting symptoms, the mayor said.

Eight health personnel were identified as close contacts of the midwife. They were swabbed and quarantined.

RHU operations would resume once test results of the isolated personnel come out negative, Somo said.

Meantime, for residents in need of health services, “magkadto lamang sa Rural Health Unit II sa Barangay Lanag.”

As of this writing, Santa Barbara had 154 total confirmed COVID-19 cases – 19 were active, 128 recovered and seven deaths./PN
