Sarah Geronimo takes on ‘challenging’ role

THE DOG movie “Because You Love Me” opens in cinemas on October 23.

At the inaugural VIVAcon, box office star Sarah Geronimo gave a sneak peek of her upcoming film.

According to Sarah, she personally requested for the film, which she describes as a “dream come true” for her, from VIVA CEO and chairman Vic Del Rosario.

“Alam niyo po, this is a dream come true project for me kasi akala ko hindi na magkakatotoo. Pero si Boss Vic, very supportive nung sinabi ko naBoss, parang pangarap ko rin na magkaroon ng dog movie’ and then tamang-tama, nag-present si direk Jun Lana,” she said.

After finding out that filmmaker Jun Luna presented her dream concept to the VIVA Exec, Geronimo felt like the stars have aligned for her.

“So sabi ko ‘Oh meant to be ito’ so finally nag-materialize, nag-start ‘yung filming na. I guess sa October na po ata ‘yung playdate.” she stated.

Even though her co-star in the film happens to be a dog, the Popstar Royalty said she didn’t have a hard time doing the scenes with the domesticated animal – especially for someone like her who happens to be a dog lover.

“Actually hindi. Napakadali. Very professional. Alam ata nang asong ‘to na artista siya. Baka artista siya in his past life. Totoo. Promise very professional. Ako pa nga ‘yung nakaka-maraming takes eh. Siya ‘yung laging take one lang, take two,” she said.

But what challenges her the most is the fact that it is her first time to portray such a character for the big screen.

“Well, dahil talagang mahal ko ang mga aso, medyo dun sa aspetong ‘yun. Kinikilig talaga ako while doing this film kasi talagang gusto ko ang mga aso. And yet, very challenging din poyung role ko kasi medyo kakaiba. First time ko to do this kind of role. So medyo challenging on my part,” she said.

Then again, she is always looking forward to every shooting day as her love for dogs keeps her alive.

“Pero looking forward ako every shooting day namin kasi nga talagang mahal na mahal ko ‘yung mga aso. At pinagdadasal ko na I’ll be able to deliver sa pelikulang ito,” the 31-year-old Kapamilya singer said.

Apart from her upcoming movie, Sarah Geronimo is officially back as one of the coaches of “The Voice Kids.” (Push)
