School principal arrested for firing gun

ILOILO – For firing a gun, policemen of Leganes, Iloilo arrested the 58-year-old principal of Guinobatan Elementary School in Barangay Guinobatan, Leganes on Tuesday night.

They also recovered from Romeo Valiente a .357 Smith and Wesson revolver.

According to the Leganes police, Valiente claimed somebody pelted with stones his quarters at the Guinobatan Elementary School passed 7 p.m.

The bursts of gunfire, however, frightened nearby households, according to Staff Sergeant John Mark Tuazon, investigator of the Leganes police station, so they alerted the municipal police office.

Cops took Valiente to the Leganes police station after the principal failed to present to them pertinent    gun documents.

Republic Act 10591, or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, requires gun holders to secure gun licenses./PN
