MANILA – Ceres Negros F.C. veteran Stephan Schröck is set to be conferred with the Mr. Football award by the Philippine Sportswriters Association during its gala night at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel on March 6.

The 33-year-old Philippine men’s national football team creative maestro will be receiving the award again after winning it first back in 2013.

Schröck stood as the rock of the national team that is currently on a transition, serving as the captain of the U22 team in the Southeast Asian Games that came close to reaching the knockout stage.

The Fil-German was also hailed by the Association of South East Asian Nations Football Federation (ASEAN) as one of the recipients of the ASEAN Football Federation Best XI Award during the awarding ceremony held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

He also led Ceres-Negros F.C. to its third successive domestic title and steered the club to the ASEAN Zonal semifinals of the Asian Football Confederation Cup.

Along with former Premiere League (one of the best football leagues in the word) goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, Schröck also spearheaded the national team’s campaign in the 2022 FIFA (International Federation of Football Association) and the AFC Asian Cup joint qualifiers.

Schröck will join Ms. and Mr. Basketball Jack Animam and Thirdy Ravena, Ms. and Mr. Volleyball Sisi Rondina and Bryan Bagunas, golfer Bianca Pagdanganan and Coach of the Year Pat Aquino as among those to be honored with special awards by the country’s oldest media organization./PN
