ILOILO City – A 51-year-old seafarer was found dead inside a hotel on Jalandoni Street, City Proper, around 10 a.m. yesterday, Oct. 1.

Hotel staff discovered Alfredo Alacapa of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, lying face down on his bed.

Alacapa had planned to surprise his family with his return. He checked into the Fine Rock Hotel around 8 a.m. on Sept. 29. The following day, at 11:30 a.m., he asked the staff to extend his stay.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. yesterday, the staff tried to contact him to confirm if he wanted to extend his stay once more, but there was no response from Alacapa.

By 10 a.m., the hotel management decided to enter the room, where they made the grim discovery.

The Iloilo City Police Station 1 and the Scene of the Crime Operatives were alerted. Cops found no injuries on Alacapa’s body, and none of his belongings were missing.

The authorities have advised the family to have Alacapa’s remains undergo a forensic examination to ascertain the cause of his death./PN
