MANILA – Carlo Biado completed Team Philippines’ gold medal sweep in the 29th Southeast Asian Games 9-ball event after ruling the men’s division at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia.
Biado, who came from a gold medal finish in the recent World Games, scored 9-5 against Vietnamese Duong Quoc Hoang late Sunday night.
Biado, 33, opened the match with a 5-1 advantage before widening the lead to as high as 8-4. Hoang managed to take one set back but Biado regained the table to complete the gold medal feat.
“Kumpiyansa na ako nung nakuha ko yung break ko. Kada break ko, laging may nahuhulog. Nakakadagdag ng kumpiyansa,” said Biado, who matched the feat of women’s 9-ball gold medalist Chezka Centeno.
