ILOILO City – Dinagyang Festival concluded on January 26 with authorities reporting a safe and orderly celebration throughout the week.
Task Group Dinagyang 2025 (TG Dinagyang 2025), led by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), ensured the safety of thousands of festival-goers, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a premier destination for secure cultural events.
Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and Task Group Commander, alongside Police Colonel Kim Legada, Site Task Group Commander, over 7,000 personnel were deployed. These included police officers, force multipliers, and partner agencies strategically stationed at performance areas, food zones, concert venues, parade routes, and transportation hubs to maintain peace and order.
The City Joint Operations Center (CJOC) reported zero major incidents during the festival.
Minor cases, such as fainting, hyperventilation, and intoxication, were swiftly addressed without disrupting the festive atmosphere, it noted.
The seamless coordination among security forces, emergency responders, and volunteers was instrumental in ensuring the event’s success, said Legada.
“This year’s festival was not only a celebration of our culture but also a testament to our shared commitment to peace and security,” said Legada, expressing gratitude to the public, partners, and organizers for their cooperation.
Wanky praised the smooth execution of the festival’s activities, including the ILOmination (Parade of Lights), Sadsad sa KalyeReal, Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahan, and the Dinagyang Tribe Contest.
“These events showcased the creativity and skill of the Ilonggo people, and the outstanding preparations ensured their success,” he said.
Mayor Jerry Treñas commended TG Dinagyang for their swift action in addressing incidents, including reports of snatching, further demonstrating their effectiveness in maintaining public safety./PN
