Search begins for ‘Huwarang Ilongga’

ILOILO – The provincial government’s Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has launched the first ever Search for Huwarang Ilongga sang Probinsya.

The search aims to give recognition to women with significant contributions in the grassroots that eventually contributed to the development and progress of the province.

The launching was held on March 30.

The Search for Huwarang Ilongga is contained in Provincial Ordinance 2018-067 which was passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in 2019 during the time of former Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) head Dr. Neneth Q. Pador.

Its implementation, however, was temporarily withheld in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.

The search is open to all Ilonggas between 18 to 59 years old and are permanent residents of Iloilo province for at least three consecutive years.

Any individual could nominate their chosen Ilongga under four categories:

* Huwarang Nanay (4Ps)

* Huwarang Ilongga sa Agrikultura

* Huwarang Ilongga sa Medisina at Kalusugan

* Huwarang Ilongga sa Edukasyon

The Search and Evaluation Committee will judge the nominees according to their achievements, social impact and leadership.

The deadline of submission of entries is July 31, 2022.

The awarding will be on Nov. 25, 2022. Winners will receive plaques of recognition and cash award of P20,000 each. (Capitol News/PN)
