ILOILO City – The city government’s Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) is searching for model senior citizens.
The search aims to give due recognition to senior citizens who have exemplified outstanding character and made significant contributions to their families and communities through public service, resource mobilization and leadership among others.
Winners will be honored during the “Huluaran sang Katigulangan Awards 2017” on Oct. 5.
While the public is encouraged to nominate, interested applicants should submit a scrapbook or write-ups on why they deserve to be awarded as “Huluaran sang Katigulangan.”
Supporting documents like photos, news clippings, certificates and awards (original and photocopy, if applicable) should be presented as well.
All filled-up nomination forms and other requirements should be submitted to OSCA at the second floor of city hall.
The award is in line with the Elderly Filipino Week held every first week of October as mandated by Proclamation No. 470 issued by then President Fidel Ramos. It aims to emphasize the important role of older persons in nation-building, and to raise and address issues concerning the sector. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
