JORDAN, Guimaras – To prevent the entry of contrabands such as illegal drugs, the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) tightened the security at the island province’s seaports.

Additional personnel were posted at the ports, said Police Colonel Pablito Asmod, Guimaras police director.

He pointed out that there were no illegal drug groups or drug personalities in Guimaras and the GPPO wanted to maintain such status of the province.

“As much as possible we want no illegal drugs entering Guimaras. Outside drug peddlers may try slipping through local ports that’s why we deployed additional policemen,” said Asmod.

In previous years, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency claimed Guimaras was being used as a transshipment point of illegal drugs./PN
