BORACAY – Is this island’s closure too much for two security guards to take?
A hotel security guard stabbed a colleague at a videoke bar in Barangay Manoc-Manoc.
The 36-year-old Tony Jimenez of Barangay Balabag here was arrested and detained at the island’s police substation for killing 31-year-old Jaylord Dela Vega of Batan, Aklan.
Both the suspect and victim worked at Crown Regency Hotel.
The stabbing happened at around 3 a.m. on April 26 – the day Boracay Island was closed for rehabilitation. The two were at a videoke bar on a drinking binge.
Police said Jimenez and Dela Vega had an argument.
Dela Vega died of a stab wound on his back.
Jimenez faces a murder charge.
Senior Superintendent Lupe Manlapaz, Aklan police director, played down the incident as “isolated.”
“They had a misunderstanding and it was not related to the closure of Boracay. It was an isolated incident,” said Manlapaz./PN
