BACOLOD City – A security guard for a local business process outsourcing company drowned off the coast of Sitio Sibucao in Barangay Banago on Sunday morning.
The 36-year-old Glen Cahaponon was a resident of Purok Lison, Barangay 1.
Coast Guard District Western Visayas chief Lieutenant Commander Jansen Benjamin said Cahaponon, with his friends Ernesto Roque and Brian Jason Sabio, went on an excursion around 9 a.m. and jumped off the boat for a swim.
Cahaponon, however, drifted away from his boat due to strong sea current.
Roque attempted to rescue Cahaponon but lost him.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) immediately conducted a search-and-rescue operation.
Around 1:35 p.m. yesterday, June 12, the PCG found Cahaponon’s body floating around two nautical miles from the shoreline of Sitio Sibucao.
Cahaponon was identified by his family./PN
