ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) detailed policemen in Barangay Desamparados, Jaro district following the recent assassination of Barangay Captain Noeme Jablo’s brother-in-law.
ICPO director Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso directed the Jaro police chief, Chief Inspector Ruel Firmo, to maximize police visibility in Barangay Desamparados.
Aside from this and checkpoints, Canieso also wanted an intensified Oplan Kapkap against loose firearms and other deadly weapons in the village.
No less than Jablo herself requested the ICPO for more policemen in Barangay Desamparados.
Carcar Jablo was shot to death on Oct. 8 by motorcycle-riding gunmen while at his chicken litson business.
As of this writing, the police have yet to identify the killers and arrest them. They were wearing bonnets when they shot Carcar, according to witnesses.
Desamparados is a drug-affected barangay. It is adjacent to Mandurriao district’s Barangay Bakhaw, also a drug-affected village.
Police believed Carcar’s death was drug-related./PN
