‘Sekyu’ surrenders hours after killing food delivery man

ILOILO City – A food delivery man was shot to death on Wednesday, March 31, on De Leon Street, Barangay Osmeña, City Proper.

The assassin – a bank security guard – fled but was arrested nine hours after in Antique province.

The 35-year-old Jomar Sanchez, a resident of Barangay Bito-on, Jaro district, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the body, a police report showed.

The suspect Argie Solis, 29, was a native of Laua-an, Antique and a security guard of Malayan Bank a few meters away from the crime scene.

Why did he shoot Sanchez?

“Indi ko hungod,” Solis said but he admitted getting angry at the food delivery man. Still, he denied intending to kill Sanchez and apologized to his victim’s family.

The shooting transpired around 11 a.m. Sanchez was supposed to deliver food.

Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines, chief of Police Station 1 (PS1), said Solis asked as to whom the food would be delivered. Sanchez put the food on top of the guard’s desk, without noticing that there were documents.

Solis got mad when he saw the papers got wet. Sanchez apologized then walked away.

Then bursts of gunfire were heard. Sanchez fell on the ground wounded.

Solis fled with his back pack and black jacket.

A .38-caliber revolver allegedly used in the killing was recovered on the suspect’s desk.

Kagamay nga rason para patyon mo ang isa ka tawo. As a guard, he must have been trained when and where to fire his gun,” said Sangrines.

Solis was intercepted in Barangay Ilabas, Sibalom, Antique around 7:55 p.m. by Laua-an policemen who reached out to the suspect’s mother hours earlier, according to Police Lieutenant Paul Oberio, Laua-an police chief.

After shooting Sanchez, Solis said he changed clothes at his boardinghouse on Ortiz Street, City Proper then proceeded to the Ceres bus terminal in Molo district for a ride to Antique. He said he really intended to surrender to the Lau-an police station.

As this was being written, the suspect was being held at the police station.

Sangrines said they would bring Solis to the Police Station 1.

A murder case would be filed against Solis.

“Gapangayo ako sorry…Indi ko na mabalik ang kabuhi niya…indi ko hungod,” said Solis./PN
