Selective lockdown eyed for 12 more city brgys

ILOILO City – Twelve more barangays in the city with cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) would be placed under selective lockdown should cases continue to spike.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, the barangays included in the city government’s watch list were the following:

* Tanza Bonifacio, City Proper (three cases) 

* PHHC 22, Mandurriao (three cases) 

* Bakhaw, Mandurriao (three cases) 

* Q. Abeto, Mandurriao (three cases) 

* Taft North, Mandurriao (three cases) 

* Hipodromo, City Proper (two cases) 

* De la Rama, City Proper (two cases) 

* Bolilao, Mandurriao (two cases) 

* Yulo, Arevalo – (two cases) 

* Calaparan, Arevalo (two cases)

* M.H. Del Pilar, Jaro (two cases) 

* Mansaya, Lapuz (two cases)

“All other barangays with positive patients are hereby cautioned that in case the numbers go up to at least four cases, we will be forced to declare a selective lockdown,” said Treñas.

Last week, the city mayor locked down six barangays for having four or more COVID-19 case. 

Barangays Pala 1, Rizal Pala 2 and Tanza Baybay in City Proper and North Baluarte in Molo District are still locked down from Aug. 9 until Aug. 12 while San Juan l, Molo and Cuartero, Jaro’s lockdown is until Aug. 14.

The lockdown for the first six barangays was supposed to end Sunday night but it was extended through Executive Order No. 122. 

The call center IQOR and the Iloilo Terminal Market were also locked down from Aug. 9 to Aug. 12.

The Iloilo Fish Port Complex, on the other hand, would still be placed on lockdown until the management could ensure compliance to safety protocols of its patrons, workers and other stakeholders.

On Sunday, Treñas further placed four more barangays on selective lockdown namely Guzman Jesena in Mandurriao and Rizal Estanzuela, City Proper with four cases each; Calumpang, Molo and Simon Ledesma, City Proper with five cases each.

The mayor’s directive for this stipulates the selective lockdown would last for three days effective 6 a.m. yesterday, Aug. 10 until Aug. 12.
