ILOILO City – Sen. Imee Marcos backed calls for a Senate investigation on the defective P680-million Ungka flyover in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia, Iloilo.

Marcos was in Iloilo yesterday for a series of engagements which included the distribution of Assistant for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to a total of 3,000 beneficiaries in Passi City and Pototan and Janiuay towns.

“It is important that we look into all these shabby infrastructures. It is very apparent that the bridge was badly constructed and has to be looked into,” she told Iloilo reporters.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Pavia passed a resolution calling for a Senate investigation on the flyover.

Marcos said she is aware that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started its own investigation and will be reporting to the Senate.

“Ang problema dyan, ang balita ko ang laki pala ng pag-repair, halos uulitin sa P250 million. I am hopeful they can come up with some cheaper arrangement. But really, people have to be accountable and heads will roll,” she added./PN
