BACOLOD City – The members of the senate approved for the third and final reading House Bill (HB) No. 4958, establishing the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Negros Occidental provincial office here.
This was disclosed by Congressman Greg Gasataya, author of the bill, citing that the senate passed it on Jan. 31.
The CHED office will be situated in this capital city which will allow a relatively large number of college students to easily avail of any academic grants that CHED may offer,” the solon said.
Negros Occidental has 60 colleges and universities, 25 of which are located in this capital city.
Gasataya said the CHED-Negros Occidental provincial office will expedite the processing of Special Orders and other requirements pertinent to the taking of professional board exams and bar exams and the reduction of the inevitable processing expenses.
He also said its accessibility will benefit thousands of tertiary students, teachers, and the academe in general.
The said bill was passed in Congress in 2019.
