BACOLOD City – The Senate has approved on third and final reading a bill expanding the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this capital city.
Cong. Greg Gasataya said the bill is his commitment to the people to improve the quality of healthcare in Bacolod City.
“The regional hospital which currently has a bed capacity of 400 accommodates more or less 750 admissions every day. That is almost double its capacity,” said Gasataya.
The lone district representative reiterated there is a need to improve the facilities and personnel of the lone tertiary government-owned hospital in the province.
Gasataya authored and sponsored House Bill No. 8835 seeking to increase the bed capacity of the CLMMRH from 400 to 1,000 and providing for additional beds, personnel, medicine, buildings, and facilities for the said hospital in the House of Representatives.
With the Senate having passed the bill on third reading, it will be forwarded to Malacañang for the President’s signature.
“I wish to thank Sen. JV Ejercito for sponsoring the bill in Senate and Dr. Julius Drilon for their cooperation,” Gasataya said.
He added this is just beginning of the improvement of healthcare in Bacolod City and he promised to fight for the establishment of a district hospital in the 18th Congress./PN
