BACOLOD City – A senior citizen drowned while crossing the Idlang-gam River in Purok Maayo, Barangay Magsaysay, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, around 12 noon on Tuesday.
The 61-year-old Marciana L. Pabuaya was a resident of the said place.
Pabuaya and her daughter were crossing the river to get to their house, according to the Cadiz City Police Station.
However, the river suddenly swelled due to a sudden downpour.
Pabuaya hit a rock head-first causing her to lose consciousness.
Her daughter, meanwhile, managed to get to safety.
It took at least an hour before rescuers retrieved Pabuaya’s body./PN
