ILOILO – Authorities have launched a manhunt for a man accused of brutally hacking his drinking companion to death in Barangay Quipot, Janiuay, Iloilo on Wednesday night, February 5.
The suspect identified as Tangloy Roche immediately fled after the incident, Janiuay police said.
The 67-year-old victim Jeffre Rapista, meanwhile, suffered fatal wounds to the neck and died.
Police Captain Hector Ayagan, chief of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station, said Roche, Rapista, and their other companion had a drinking binge earlier that night.
After the session ended, Rapista went home to rest but Roche allegedly followed him, armed with a bolo.
Upon reaching the victim’s house, Roche knocked on the door. When Rapista’s wife opened it, the suspect allegedly barged in and attacked the sleeping victim, nearly severing his neck.
Police believe intoxication may have played a role in the crime./PN
