ILOILO City – A senior citizen and his nephew were arrested during a raid in their respective houses in Barangay Pasig, Lambunao, Iloilo yesterday.
Edgardo Maulas, 61, and Henefer Maulas, 41, were detained at the Lambunao police station.
According to Lambunao police chief, Police Major Jogen Suegay, the two had records in their barangay for indiscriminate firing thus, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force served a search warrant against the suspects around 5:36 a.m. yesterday.
Police recovered from the house of Henefer two 12-gauge shotguns (long and short) and six live ammunition and 12 empty shells of a 12-gauge shotgun.
Edgardo, meanwhile, yielded a .38 revolver, four spent bullet shells and a grenade.
“Nakaagi na sila patawag sa barangay kay nagapinalupok…gadulot kahadlok sa ila neighbors,” Suegay said.
The suspects face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
Edgardo faces an additional charge – violating RA 9516 (Illegal/Unlawful Possession, Manufacture, Dealing In, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives)./PN
