Senior citizen yields ‘shabu’ in Pontevedra drug sting

BACOLOD City – Police seized on Wednesday, Dec. 4, P170,000 worth of suspected shabu from a 63-year-old woman in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.

Alias “Nilda”, a resident of the said barangay, was classified as a street-level target.

Officers of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station (MPS) recovered a total of nine plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 25 grams.

Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky conveyed his appreciation to the operating unit and the members of the community who provided the necessary information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

“With the community’s vigilance those engaging in illegal drug transactions are being identified. We urged our stakeholders to maintain this support and be assured that their identity will be treated with utmost confidentiality ,” he added.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Pontevedra MPS. She is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
