ILOILO City – A senior citizen and her granddaughter were arrested in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City for possessing over half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu.
The 63-year-old Annabelle Diaz and 22-year-old Julianna Marie Sablon were residents of the place.
They were arrested at 3:53 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, by the Police Regional Office 6-Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).
The suspects sold suspected shabu for P12,500 to a police poseur buyer, said Major Rommel Anicete of RDEU.
“Dalawa sila ang nagbenta sa asset namin. Matagal namin sila sinubaybayan,” added Anicete.
Recovered from the suspects were 85 grams of shabu worth P578,000.
Diaz was arrested in 2005 in Bacolod City but was able to secure a plea bargain.
Her two sons, “Reagan” and “Jackal” are currently serving jail time at the New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City, also for illegal drugs.
Sablon, on the other hand, was arrested sometime in 2021 and was also able to avail herself of a plea bargain.
“We believe that their source was the New Bilibid Prison since Diaz’s two sons are detained there, kaya malaki ang stock nila,” Anicete told Panay News.
The suspects are being held at the Bacolod City Police Station 2, facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
