Separate drug stings yield P7.5-M ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – Two successful anti-illegal drug operations of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P7,582,000 worth of suspected shabu on June 5 and 6.

On June 5 at around 7:15 p.m., Napoleon Begasa III, 30, of Purok Kawayan, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City was arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Suspected shabu weighing more or less 1, 010 grams and with an estimated drug price of P6,868,000 was recovered.

The subject was collared by joint elements of BCPO’s Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Special Operations Team 6, and BCPO intelligence Unit.

Begasa was tagged a high-value suspect.

In another operation in the early morning of June 6 at around 12:41 a.m., a certain Raffy Cardeṅas, 38, of Purok Kahirup, Barangay Singcang Airport, Bacolod City was nabbed in a buy-bust operation.

Cops recovered suspected shabu weighing more or less 105 grams and with an estimated drug price of P714,000.

The operation was launched by BCPO, Police Station 8.

Both suspects were monitored for a couple of months prior to the sting.

Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas top cop, applauded the operating personnel for another successful operation against illegal drugs.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong patuloy na operasyon kontra sa ilegal na droga. Huwag po natin tatantanan hangga’t may natitira pang indibidwal na imbolbado sa ilegal na kalakalan ng ipanagbabawal na gamut,” he added.

The two are presently in  the custody of BCPO Police Station 3 and 8,respectively pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022./PN
