SERVICE FROM THE HEART: Panay News, Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation hold relief drive to brgy frontliners

Apart from medical frontliners, essential barangay personnel and volunteers are among those who need the most help in our fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Panay News together with Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation, Incorporated initiated a relief drive to barangay frontliners in the municipality of Pavia, Iloilo on April 3.

In line with its advocacy to foster corporate social responsibility, Panay News extended aid to barangay frontliners risking their lives to maintain safety, security and welfare of the community. 

Through the cash donation of former Pavia Vice Mayor Raymund Gumban and the company’s supportive suppliers and advertisers, the foundation was able to distribute around 40 pieces of face masks to barangay frontliners on March 15.

In addition, the foundation also distributed a total of 360 food packs to essential barangay personnel and volunteers in the town of Pavia on April.

The donation consists rice, can goods, noodles, coffee, bottled water, face masks, body wash for barangay health worker and gasoline for patrol services of barangay tanods.

Members of barangay councils were also treated to free bread from Bread and Butter.

Panay News was supposed to hold its annual free medical mission as part of the paper’s 39th anniversary celebration on April 7.

A pilot barangay in Pavia, Iloilo was already selected for the free medical services on March 19, however, due to the implementation of enhance community quarantine to curb the spread of COVID-19, Panay News opted to suspend the activity.
