BACOLOD City — There are many ways to slip illegal drugs into detention facilities.
Unfortunately for a Silay City resident, concealing a plastic sachet of suspected shabu in a chocolate bar was not the best trick.
Geronimo Superficial, 51, of Barangay Mambulac, Silay, went to the Silay City police station jail on Sunday evening supposedly to bring a chocolate bar to inmate Dennis Britaña.
But police jail guards went suspicious when they saw a lighter accompanying the chocolate bar.
They took the chocolate bar from Superficial, opened it and found a sachet of shabu.
Police said the shabu sachet was covered with an aluminum foil and wrapped in paper, and was used to replace a portion of the chocolate bar that was cut off.
They immediately arrested Superficial and questioned Britaña, an illegal drug suspect.
Both denied having anything to do with the illegal substance.
Superintendent Rosauro Francisco, Silay City police chief, said they will file against Superficial charges for violation of sections 5, 11 and 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
On June 28, an unidentified tricycle driver left a plastic bag of toiletries for inmate Agustin” Jojo” Salutin in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Bago City.
Jail guards later discovered that marijuana cigarettes were neatly hidden in a toothpaste tube that was one of the contents of the plastic bag./PN
