‘Shabu’ worth P1.3M seized in Singcang-Airport

BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu worth some P1.3 million was recovered in a drug buy-bust operation in Purok Hollow Blocks, Barangay Singcang-Airport, police said.

The suspected illegal drugs contained in 17 plastic sachets were confiscated from the 50-year-old Joemarie Tapalia of Purok San Roque, Barangay Handumanan.

Tapalia was arrested in a sting operation that officers from Police Station 8 staged on Saturday.

Police Station 8 commander Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag said they did not expect to make such a huge drug confiscation as Tapalia was only a “street-level drug target.”

Culanag added that Tapalia had been under surveillance for a week before he was arrested.

Aside from the suspected shabu, police also recovered from Tapalia cash amounting to P1,200, a cellphone and drug paraphernalia.

Tapalia was detained at the Police Station 8 lockup facility, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
