BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu valued at around P6.8 million was seized in an antidrug operation at Sibulan Port in Negros Oriental.
The 25-year-old Tim Bernard Las Piñas, 23-year-old Lehsa Taganile, 23-year-old Ellery Jude Alabanzas and 23-year-old Kathleen Caryl Tulabing yielded the suspected illegal drugs, a police report showed.
Police coordinated with local authorities after receiving a report about a vehicle carrying illegal drugs via a roll on, roll off vessel bound to Dumaguete City from Cebu.
When the vessel arrived, antidrug operatives conducted a random inspection and they found the suspects onboard a red vehicle.
A plastic containing suspected shabu weighing about one kilogram was found in the bag of one of the suspects around 4 p.m. on Monday, the report added.
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, a P4,000 cash, three cellphones, a sling bag, and a pair of scissors were also confiscated. Police also impounded their car.
The suspects were detained in the Sibulan municipal police station’s lockup facility.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them./PN
