ILOILO City – A ship crashed against the docking area of the Parola Ferry Terminal here around 7:23 a.m. yesterday, Aug. 31.

M/V D’Asean Journey skippered by Captain Ronald Joey Galon was about to enter the Iloilo River but drifted due to strong water current, according to Philippine Coast Guard Iloilo commander Paterno Belarmino.

The ship left Cuyo, Palawan with 109 passengers and 28 crew members on Aug. 30.

Coast Guard personnel immediately assisted in the safe disembarkation of passengers.

Two tugboats towed the ship out of the ferry terminal toward the fast craft terminal in Lapuz district./PN
