Shot, hacked: Motive in laborer’s death still unknown

ILOILO City – A 44-year-old laborer was shot and hacked to death in Barangay Tigbayog, Calinog, Iloilo.

Resident Richard Copita sustained a gunshot wound on the chest and a hack wound on the neck, police said.

Police identified the suspects as residents Joebert Condes, 35, and Herman Delos Reyes, 57.

Both fled after the incident, police said, citing witnesses. They remain at large as of this writing.

Investigation showed the suspects took turns in attacking the victim while the latter was feeding his hogs at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Condes shot him using a 12-gauge shotgun while Delos Reyes hacked him using an unidentified bladed weapon, police said, citing witnesses.

Police have yet to determine the motive as of this writing.

7 SHABU SACHETS SEIZED                      

Seven sachets of shabu were seized in a police operation in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo district.

Suspected drug dealer Anthony Crispolon was arrested.

The 46-year-old resident of Barangay Don Esteban, Lapuz sold a plastic pack of shabu to an undercover officer for P1,200, a police report showed.

Six more sachets of the same substance were seized from him when frisked.

Crispolon was taken to the Arevalo police station after his arrest at around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 – specifically selling and possession of a prohibited substance.

PUJ, MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON IZNART

Residents of Pavia and Dingle towns in Iloilo province figured in a vehicular crash in this city.

Rolando Dagum, 47, of Dingle was driving the public utility jeepney that hit a preceding motorcycle on Iznart Street, City Proper.

Robert Lemeric, 47, of Pavia was driving the motorcycle.

None of the drivers were hurt in the crash that happened at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday but the motorcycle incurred damage on its rear, a police report showed./PN
