
CAPIZ – This year’s edition of Capiztahan and the commemoration of the 124th Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz opened on Tuesday, April 1.
Gov. Fredenil Castro and Roxas City’s Mayor Ronnie Dadivas officially declared the opening of the celebration following a thanksgiving mass.
“Sa ngalan sang aton istorya nga dapat naton nga ipabugal, sa ngalan sang mga Capiznons nga maghatag sa aton sang kadungganan naton sadtong una tubtob karon, sa ngalan sang mga local officials sang aton probinsya halin sa mayor pakadto sa barangay kagawads, sa ngalan sang aton mahal nga patron nga amo ang padayun nga nag-ubay sa aton,” Gov. Castro said.
Mayor Dadivas added: “Sa ngalan sang probinsya sang Capiz kag sang Syudad sang Roxas, kami ni Gov. Fredenil Castro nagadeklarar sang opening sang aton Capiztahan.”
The governor highlighted that Capiztahan is not just a display of the vibrant culture and rich history of the province but also a strong proof of Capiznons’unity.
“Sa pagsugod sang Capiztahan 2025, aton batyagon ang aton pagkatawo bilang Capiznon. Ipabutyag sang pagkasuod ang aton pakig-upod sa tinutuyo nga isa ka pungsod, isa ka probinsya kag isa komunidad,” said Gov. Castro.
Gov. Castro and Mayor Dadivas also led the opening of the Capiz Farmers’ Market, a display of local products from Roxas City and different towns at the Capiz Provincial and Business Center Carpark Area. It will run until today, April 3.
Among the items displayed here are agri-farm products, handicrafts by artisans and indigenous peoples communities, decors, native delicacies, and other locally-processed food.
A garden fair is currently ongoing at the same venue.
Gov. Castro lauded the efforts of both the Department of Agriculture and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist headed by Officer-in-Charge Raoul Perez for the continued growth of the province’s agriculture sector./PN
