SIBALOM, Antique – With 20 active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the local government unit (LGU) here extended the restrictions to people’s movements and activities.

Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña said the extension aims to “contain (the) transmission of COVID-19.”

The following suspensions and prohibitions are extended until May 15:

* Operation of beerhouses, bars, billiards, and other-non essential activities are temporarily suspended.

* Attendance of other people aside from family members and close-relatives during wake/vigil is discouraged. There shall be strict adherence to the minimum health protocols during the entire duration of wake.

* Food and drinks in restaurants, carinderias, snacks houses and the like shall be served for takeout only.

* Tourism sites shall remain close.

* Convergence in a group or with cluster of persons, especially in closed areas, is discouraged and events and parties shall be attended by family members within the household.

Occeña reminded the people of Sibalom to observe these health protocols: wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and proper handwashing.

Sibalom’s 20 active COVID-19 cases were in barangays District IV (five), District 1 (four), Cubay Napultan (three), Lambyagan (two),  and Bongsod, Catungan IV, Iglanot, Nagdayao, Catmon, and San Juan (one each).

Since the pandemic started, Sibalom had recorded 99 cases with four dead./PN
